We have detailed our project year by year, along with a brief description. Hope this provides a brief glimpse into the work that we do. However, we believe that there is a lot more to be done. We are looking for more volunteers to help us further our ideals.

Our past projects timeline

Aapnar Mask I Aapnar Porichoy in Collaboration with UNICEF, West Bengal

Project Objectives:

COVID19 mitigation in three ward of Kolkata (58,66 & 80) through re-usable fabric mask distribution & awareness creation and training of SHG women to make GOI standard fabric masks

Activities performed:

1. Identification of SHG belonging to the targeted wards of Kolkata
2. Training of SHG’s to make GOI standard non surgical fabric masks
3. Training of SHG’s to perform household distribution of masks with awareness (usage, care, disposal of masks)
4. Production of masks, handholding of SHG’s, quality control etc
5. Monitoring HH and community distribution of masks by the SHG’s
6. Study of perceptions & attitudes of beneficiaries, community members, trainers etc through questionnaires and Focused Group Discussion.

Location: 3 wards of Kolkata covering major slum areas (Dhapa, Topsia, Sickline, BB Hall, Taratalla)

Project Unnati with SVP India Kolkata Chapter

Project Objectives:
1.The objective of the project is to provide sustainable livelihood to underprivilages women in West Bengal & Indo-Bangladesh borders

Activities performed:

1. Setting up of training and manufacturing units in 2 locations
2. Selection of women beneficiaries to be trained under the project
3. Conducting 4-days comprehensive training on SRHR, Sustainable Menstruation & Cloth Pad making
4. Handholding beneficiaries through stitching of 2000 hygiene kits (1 cloth pad+1 underwear+1 mask)
5. Distribution and awareness by beneficiaries in villages
6. Collecting user feedback and implementing changes (design/format of pad/size etc.)
7. Project review

Location: Kankura Masat Village, Diamond Harbour, South 24 Paraganas & Hanskhali block, Nadia district, Indo-Bangladesh borders

Project "Make Your Pads" - In Association with Rangeen Khidki Foundation

Project Objectives:

1. To train young girls (below 18 years) to make re-usable cloth pads (all types) & Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR)

Activities performed:

1. Pre and post training assessment through survey questionnaire
2. Awareness on SRHR, Menstrual Health & Hygiene & Sustainable Menstruation
3. Training on making re-usable cloth pads (Anahat Unnati Foldable Pads & Pad Shaped)
4. Training on branding, marketing, packaging, pricing (through activities & case studies)
5. Sharing pre post training analysis report

Location: Sundarbans, South 24 Paraganas, West Bengal

Providing menstrual hygiene kits as COVID19 Relief

Project Objectives:

1. To provide 6600 reusable cloth pads to marginalized women in villages of West Bengal
2. To provide a livelihood to SHGs who are making these cloth pads during the lockdown period

Activities performed:

1. Distribute cloth pads as a kit among the villagers through ground partners.
2. Submission of reports along with feedback of user

Project Objectives:
1. To provide 6600 reusable cloth pads to marginalized women in villages of West Bengal

Activities performed:

1. Distribute cloth pads as a kit among the villagers through ground partners.

Sreema Period Project

Project Objectives:

1. To provide 500 reusable cloth pads to marginalized women in villages of West Bengal affected by Amphan
2. To provide livelihood to SHGs who are making these cloth pads during lock down period.

Adolescent health education in schools of Kolkata focussing on Menstrual Hygiene

Project Objectives:
1. To make the students aware about women’s health and menstrual hygiene.
2. To introduce sustainable menstruation among the students.

2. Awareness session on adolescent’s health and menstrual health and hygiene.

SHG training on sustainable menstruation and pad making

Project Objectives:

1.To provide awareness session to SHG members on Sustainable menstruation
2. To provide livelihood option to that SHG members through reusable Cloth pad making.

Project Activities:
1. Conduct session on Sustainable menstruation
2. Conduct session on reusable cloth pad making session
3. Provide hand holing support to the SHG members for cloth pad making.
4. Provide session to that SGH members regarding marketing, packaging Banding.
5. Report submission

1.To provide awareness session to 150 college students on Sustainable menstruation

Women's Health and Menstrual Hygiene

Project Objectives:

Sustainable Menstruation

Project Objectives:

1. To provide TOT (ASHA, AWW,) for LALANA Campaign (a holistic menstrual hygiene management)

Project Outcomes:
1. Conduct TOT for master trainers related to menstrual hygiene management.
2. Introduce sustainable menstruation among all the health workers.
3. Provided training kit to all of them
4. Submission of reports.

Adolescent Health Education in Schools and Learning Centers - Suraksha

Project Objectives:
1. To select schools in West Bengal for menstrual hygiene management program.
2. To conduct awareness sessions in schools regarding menstrual hygiene management.
3. Reporting of the above activities.

Project Outcomes:
1. Conducting awareness sessions on sustainable menstruation with children.
2. Conducting awareness session on sustainable menstruation & hygiene practices with stakeholders.
3. Reporting of the entire activities.

Adolescent health education in schools with special focus on menstrual hygiene

Project Objectives:

1. To make the students aware about women’s health and menstrual hygiene
2. To introduce sustainable menstruation among the students

Activities Performed:

1. Survey of schools on menstruation & selection of schools for the program
2. Awareness session on adolescent’s health and menstrual health and hygiene
3. Distribute cloth pads as a kit among the teachers and students
4. Submission of reports along with feedback of user

Location: Bankura, West Bengal

Assessment of Individual toilets and community toilets in the catchments of ITC’s Factories

Project Objectives:

1. To assess toilet usage – gender/ age wise, individual member usage & reasons for not using toilets
2. To assess toilet infrastructure & cleaning of toilets
3. To assess drinking water supply, duration & quality
4. To assess handwashing practices & other hygiene behaviours

Activities Performed:

1. Questionnaire preparation & uploading the same in SurveyCTO app
2. Collection of data from 5500 ITC households and 1500 control households
3. Collection of data from 30 community toilets
4. Qualitative study including 20 FGDs, 30 service provider’s interview and 15 case studies
5. Data analysis using SPSS & Ms Excel
6. Final report submission along with analysis

LG Eco - Agents of Change

Project Objectives:

1. Build awareness about safe drinking water
2. Provided training tools to teachers for the same
3. Provide safe drinking water as a part of the ‘LG Eco Agents of Change’ projects on school.
4. Reporting & documentation of all the activities

Activities Performed:

1. Fixed 5 government schools in Kolkata for the LG Eco Agents of Change programme
2. Conducted teachers training on Safe drinking water.
3. Organised one day each exhibition on safe drinking in all school.
4. Support was given when LG Water Filters were being set up in schools
5. Organised an awareness drive for plastic-free environment by the students and teachers in a public place
6. Organised an award programme with all the students and teachers for their outstanding performance
