
It is with great joy that we present our Annual Report for the financial year April, 2024 – March, 2025.
Within its pages, you’ll hear 16yo Rita’s shriek of joy when she becomes the first in her family to graduate Class 10. Her friends Sonam and Lakshmi danced their own jubilant jigs by winning the U-15 Junior League in Dhanbad, Jharkhand.

This year, Anahat deepened its work along the continuum of gender-based violence by addressing its roots in everyday discrimination and equipping communities with the resources to lift themselves out of the matrix of unemployment, illiteracy, hunger and sexual violence.
In high-risk regions such as Alipurduar and Koderma, where trafficking, forced marriages and unsafe migration are rampant, Anahat combined knowledge sharing sessions with livelihood initiatives to financially strengthen families and reduce vulnerability.
Women were trained in goat rearing, kitchen gardening and stitching cloth menstrual pads—initiatives that not only improved nutrition and income but also promoted sustainable practices and financial independence.
The impact has been tangible: school dropout rates due to menstruation have declined, over 28,000 community members in Jharkhand alone were reached through awareness campaigns and hundreds of families in West Bengal improved food security and income through alternative livelihoods.

Anahat takes pride in investing in its people and leadership – the wind beneath its sails. Employees from across the country came together for 4 days in a remote resort, to talk, share, reflect and learn at our first ever annual gender retreat. Capacity-sharing workshops and compassionate organisation policies such as a Self-Care Leave underscored the organisation’s commitment to wellbeing and growth.
Recognition through prestigious fellowships for its co-founders and successful donor audits affirmed Anahat’s credibility and impact.

And what better recognition of our credibility, than being certified as a “Great Place To Work”!
With 16 employees participating from across 4 States, answering rigorous questions about our work ethic in their vernacular languages, it led to the impressive score of 89% across five categories —pride, credibility, camaraderie, respect and fairness. For an organisation to be certified as a Great Place to Work, 70 percent or more of employee respondents need to rate the organisation as a great workplace.
